What is the difference between "standard of living" and "quality of life"?

Quality of life are factors that can be subjective and intangible such as equal protection of the law, freedom from discrimination, right to vote, free choice of employment ,etc. In addition, Quality of life can be things that we cannot buy with money such as rights, freedom and uniformity. On other hand, we have the standard of living which for some people is a priority because of the level of comfort, wealth, material goods and necessities that a certain socioeconomic class can have. However, comparing between standard of living and quality of life might depend on the life perspective that everyone could have or the way of thinking of each person.
Quality of life is most important than standard of living because no matter what good material things one person can have, that person cannot buy a high quality of life. For example, when I used to live in my country Venezuela I had a good standard of living and also quality of live at the same time but I have been changing by the time. It means that in the past 5 years my country have had a low quality of life and also a low standard of living because of the government ideologies that it has been implemented in the country such as a higher inflation rate, high cost of goods and services and others. Moreover, Venezuela has a high deficit of freedom of movement, the right of privacy and the right to vote has been played by the government. In conclusion, Venezuela is a beautiful country where the standard of living is very low for people who don’t like the government and also the quality of life is extremely low because the rights and freedom have stolen by the government administration.

Do you think the message in Maugham's story is the same as or different from the message in the Aesop fable of the ant and the grasshopper? Explain.

I think that in Maugham's story is different from the message in the Aesop fable because in story of the Fable is trying to explain how important is to work and care about the future. Both characters are different point of view their own life so they are an example of what you can get or where you can be if you work hard for your future. Sometimes, we can enjoy our life doing anything that we like but we always need to think about the future. If somebody wants to have a good future, you need to work hard to obtain good results. However, in the story of the Maugham the Grasshopper ending in good conditions without work hard because of a stroke of luck and the ant never forgave the grasshopper because he was selfish at the end of the story. Even though the ant worked so hard, he didn't get the same results that the grasshopper ending with.

How accurate is the author's description of your birth order?:

According to the article " How your Birth Order Influences your Life Adjustment" by Lucile K. Forer explains about how the birth order plays an important role in your life. Children take a determine place in the family group and this place is developed by older, middle, youngest and only child. In my family, there was 3 children and I used to be the youngest child for 15 years. After that time, I became the middle child which was a huge change and an impact in my life.
In the beginning, being as the youngest child was a interesting part of my life because I always had the attention of my parents and my older siblings. I identify my self when Forer says about youngest child that "the youngest child tends to think, I am less able to do many things than other people" because I used to think like that due to the protection and help of my siblings gave to me, but after I became the middle child my concept of that totally changed.
In the part of "Relationship with parents", it explains about how the first child struggles to be parental and how parents change as a more relaxed with the others children. I definitely agree with this part of the article because my older sister always have to take care of us when my mom had to go to work. I always see her as my mother and my adviser. In other hand, my mother was so strict with my sister and she never permitted my sister to go out with her friends but as the time passed my mother changed and she became in certain point more relaxed and less tense with us. In addition, after my mom changed I enjoy many advantages than my older sister couldn't have.
In conclusion, this article was really interesting for me and I agree with some of the points that it explains.I addition it accurate in my life. Being the older, middle of youngest child is not a easy role in the family and the birth order can affect our life.
